Megadeth's legacy all started in 1983 after Dave Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica. The members of Metallica felt that high drug addictions and drinking problems held the band back. After accidently meeting David Ellefson, who was Mustaine's neighbor, they brought in Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson to form MEGADETH.
1985: Megadeth's first album KILLING IS MY BUSINESS, AND BUSINESS IS GOOD was released. This paved the way for Megadeth's megastardom.
1986: One year later PEACE SELLS, BUT WHO'S BUYING? was put out. After this Poland and Samuelson left the band. They were shortly replaced by Jeff Young and Chuck Behler.
1988: SO FAR, SO GOOD, SO WHAT was the only album released by this line-up. Young and Behler were bumped off by the current band members of Nick Menza and Marty Friedman.
1990: First album by current band-mates was RUST IN PEACE. This is the crew that we all know and love today.
Now that Megadeth is settled in and no longer changing roster they have released their best works yet. In 1992 COUNTDOWN TO EXTICTION went triple platnum. YOUTHANASIA surpassed the popularity of CTE, yet did not achieve the high ranks of it. A compilation of Megadeth's works from movie soundtracks and tribute albums were put together on their 1995 LP, HIDDEN TREASURES. Just recently in 1997 they released CRYPTIC WRITINGS which holds to their unique style.
